Just Because...

I'm looking for BIG signs...MONUMENTAL signs...COLORFUL ones. I'm looking for the return of the birds and water foul...and for their annual ritual of nesting. I'm looking for the first flowers to emerge with a wink and a smile. I'm looking for something - ANYTHING -  that is promising the coming of spring.

It's a tree I've captured in all seasons. In summer greens....in autumn's golds and browns...in winter's blues and whites. Today - I stopped for no good reason. I've been here...seen this...done this so many times before.

I stopped - because...

Because - there are the tiniest of spring buds. Mere seeds. Nothing BIG...or MONUMENTAL or particularly filled with COLOR.

I stopped - and thought - these tiny buds will soon be bigger buds...and then green leaves...and then faded golden ones...and this tiny insignificant moment will quickly be forgotten.
