Even When I'm Looking

January 7, 2016 Marcie Scudder

Pondering - today - all the things I don't see....even when I think I'm looking.

Someone - lovingly and with great intention - made this rabbit out of unformed clay.
Someone - lovingly and with more intention - placed her right here in this barn window.
Perhaps - so as to allow her to look out. Perhaps - so she might see.
Me.
The world.
This cold winter landscape.

Day after day. She sits. She stays.

I don't know how many times I've passed her by.
I don't know why it's taken me so long to see.
I don't know how many other things I've missed along the way.

How is it possible to miss these things...even when I think I'm looking?
