It was deep within the Louisiana bayou that I found the quiet.
There - in between the Spanish Moss and Cypress. Where alligators lay sleeping beneath the water's surface....and snakes roamed.
I could feel nature's rhythms. I could hear her soft breaths.
There was mystery in its depths....and unexpected color.
In and among the trees - I imagined a time before this where barefoot children romped and roamed.
In another day and time when the crawfish they caught would be their night's dinner.
I wondered about time...and how this place had persevered and survived in spite of the storms...and the centuries.
I wondered about the stories.
And - I allowed myself to drift. Slowly. In its magic.
