Spring arrives here - later. It begins with the roots. It rises.
I've looked to the rivers and ponds and streams for signs of new life and new beginnings.
Here - I look to the ground.
Newly born. Just yesterday.
As a child - I dreamed of living amongst the barn animals.
I imagined myself happily curled up in a blanket of sweet smelling hay...along with the horses and cows.
I imagined dogs asleep beside me.
I imagined waking to the sound of a rooster crowing.
Alas - it was only my wild and over-active imagination.
I was a city girl. My dreams remained a remote and distant possibility.
Today.
In this next quarter century.
Spring arrives late. But - not too late.
For all of my dreams and wildest imaginings - I'm grateful.
