Her Light

June 1, 2017 Marcie Scudder

I'm needing to touch...to feel...to hold.

In one instant - it's all so perfectly palpably clear. In the next - it's nothing.
Its grasp is beyond me.

Three years ago - my landscape changed. My world. My life. My vision and view.

My mother appears to me - now - only in dreams.
Her voice. Her color. Her light.
I wake - and she's gone.

The golden dandelions are now silver.
It rains...and the morning dew makes magic.
I imagine other stories. Fairy tales. Different endings.

I listen. I see. I feel.
This is it. Isn't it?
Life.

I'm so lucky to be here. To connect.
One more minute. One more breath.
The light changes. It disappears.
Not a day goes by.
I miss her.
