I seem to be finding them everywhere these days.
Or - are they finding me?
The corn is slow to grow this year.
At this mid-summer's date - I stand tall above their stalks. Barely knee high - even to a child.
It was - at first - an unexpected rustle. A slight bit of movement in what was so quiet and green and still.
And then - looking up at me - there was this.
The sweetest baby fawn.
Spotted.
The smallest I've ever seen.
Where was her mother?
I worried - I'd scared her.
Slowly...I turned my back...I walked away.
When I looked again - her mother returned.
Making everything right with this little one's world.
Just as it should be.
