All Things

July 5, 2017 Marcie Scudder

I wondered how it is that I might describe this summer day.
After days and weeks of endless rain.
After the early wildflowers had finished blooming.
After a life event that that stopped me in my tracks....took my breath away.

The cows - in their fields  - continue their ritual of grazing.
The sheep - huddle close together in tight knit packs.
The farmer's cats sit in their usual spots on the back porch - waiting.

The sky is blue.
The birds are singing.

There's a rustling in the distant bush.
There must be deer....or fox...or other wildlife there in hiding.

It's quiet.
A cow cries out. A distant eerie moo-ing.

I imagine bees buzzing...fireflies dancing.
It's no thing.
It's all things.
It's a landscape viewed thru new eyes.
A beginner's mind.
Today - it's always this.
