Monkey's Business

February 25, 2017 Marcie Scudder

I heard some people say he reminds them of a Rebbe.
And others thought he resembled the Pope.

Either way.
Adorable.

Buddha

February 22, 2017 Marcie Scudder

Found this big guy seated cross-legged....quiet and still perched high up in a
tree on the Rio Negro..

Like Buddha.

He's - perhaps - one of the only albino howler monkeys in all of Costa Rica.
Due to genetic mutations he arrived in this world with an orange coat instead of the typical black of the howler.

Lacking the ability to camouflage and protect himself from prey...he's ostracized from his tribe.

He spends his days alone.
In silent meditation.
Or - so it occurred to me.

Recently - I'm told - there has been a lady friend lurking.
There is love. There is hope.
He will reproduce and survive..

Nature always has a plan.
Doesn't it?

Unforgettable Faces

February 21, 2017 Marcie Scudder

And then - there were the most unforgettable faces.

Their eyes are almost blue.
Look closely - you can see.

So very very human.
Aren't they?
