Look once - and the winter desert palette is hardly worth mentioning. Definitely not worthy of being captured by my camera's lens. One shade of monochrome....with an overlay of a reddish/rusty grey.
Look a second time - and there they were. The extraordinary.
I wanted to record what I knew that my mind would never remember....or - quite possibly - never again see. The lushness in the barreness. The stunning beauty. A palette that was unexpectedly full.
A layered composition. A diagonal line. An inspiring combination of color and texture and pattern and light.
And - I thought - how like life. The beauty and richness in the ordinary...in the cracks and crevices..in places and spaces where no one might expect color to be found.
