So..it has started. My annual rite and ritual of 'cleaning house' in preparation for the coming of spring. As the snow melts..as I slowly clear away winter's debris..as I prepare to make some big changes around my virtual home – I thought it a good opportunity to take this week to reflect back. To share with you week – some who are new here..and others who have been here with me for awhile – how it is I've arrived at where I am.
We all have stories. This series of posts - is mine.

Altho I'm not sure I knew it at the time – I was somewhere in between. Three growing children..a busy and thriving architectural practice..a marriage..a house..a dog. A full life. I arrived knowing only that a piece of this picture-perfect puzzle was missing. I didn't know how that piece was shaped - its colors..its texture or form. I had no idea how it would fit…but that I knew – somehow – that I needed to find it. To uncover and discover it. After a lifetime of pleasing others…following the prescribed path and meeting everyone else's expectations – I needed to find a voice that was my own.
The year was 2000. It was the dawn of a whole new century. I can no longer recall if it was me who found my mat..or if my mat found me. In retrospect – I'm not sure it matters. Our meeting happened – as so many meetings do – somewhat serendipitously. By chance. By accident. And – it was love at first sight. Feeling the eternal strength of the ground beneath..the expansiveness of the sky above..my own heart beating. Connecting with my breath..my body..my being. Listening – maybe for the very first time – to me. I knew from that very first meeting – that this practice of yoga would be one that sustains.
